My name is Ana La Cadena, I am a 24-year-old painter, portraitist and graphic novel author.

I dedicate myself to painting people in oil, with classical notions, throughout my history, creating a wonderful amalgamation of things that should not be together, and they are.

I have been painting my whole life, and I need it to live. I don't remember ever starting, I just know I always have. I made my first oil painting when I was 11 years old, and by the time I was 19 I had already developed headaches from having lived with painting all my life.

My paintings are not objects, they are eyes that look for other eyes that understand them. They are not a manufactured product that is made quickly, they are slow processes, in which I spend hours, days and months painting them. These slow processes are deeply and uniquely emotional, seeking deep and real connections. In order that the only person in the world, for whom each of these works is made, finds her gaze in mine.
